"...we are developing a democracy which is more mature, stable, and qualified."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on the public to support the effort of democratic development which is stable, mature, and qualified.
The president made the call on his Twitter account, @SBYudhoyono, on Wednesday evening before speaking to the press about his meeting with Yenny Wahid, the daughter of former President Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid.
"In this transformation era, we are developing a democracy which is more mature, stable, and qualified. Therefore, let us make it a success," wrote the president on Twitter.
Besides calling on the public to make the development of democracy a success, President Yudhoyono also mentioned three important things about politics, democracy, and freedom.
"First, a clean authoritarian government,... can be better if compared with a bad democracy, but the second, a mature and stable democracy is always much better than the political system of any kind," he noted.
The third thing the president mentioned on his Twitter was that the important features of a good democracy were freedom and obedience to the rule of law.
Four days after President Yudhoyono officially launched his Twitter account on Saturday, April 13, 2013, its followers have reached one million people.
The people at large positively welcomed the Twitter account of the president, hoping that they could directly address their complaints to the head of state who could also responded them directly.
