Kartini had tarnished the image of the court.Semarang (ANTARA News) - The Semarang Corruption Court sentenced one of its former judges Kartini Julianna Mandalena Marpaung to 8 years` imprisonment for receiving bribe.
Kartini was found guilty of receiving bribe in the trial earlier of a number of the Grobogan district officials charged with embezzling the district budget fund.
Judge Ifa Sudewi reading the verdict on Thursday said Kartini had tarnished the image of the court and violated ethical code of the corps of judges.
Kartini was also punished with a fine of Rp500 million or additional jail term of five months.
The sentence was much lighter than 15 years` imprisonment demanded by the prosecutor.
