Singapore (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said Indonesia would not be lulled by all the good economic predictions and forecasts that have been made so far believing that all achievements must be made through hard work.

"Some prestigious international analysts have predicted that Indonesia`s prospects would be brighter in the future," he said in his speech when receiving an honorary doctorate degree from Singapore`s "Nanyang Technological University" (NTU) here on Monday.

He said "all of them have increased our confidence but the future would not be something like a gift from God. Hard work will be needed for it."

"The success that we have achieved must be continued and Indonesian future leaders must be able to continue their ability to adapt, develop the transformation and connect Indonesia with the world and make difficult decisions," he said.

President Yudhoyono said although a lot had been accomplished in the fields of democracy and economy as well as others many problems still had yet to be solved.

Infrastructure development, he said, is still among the priorities that must be carried out in view of the vast archipelago, he said.

"We also have to continue strengthening the rule of law and create a clean government. We also have to continue the fight against corruption," he said.

With regard to ethnic and cultural differences President Yudhoyono said the government had to continue maintaining their harmonious relationship as it was part of the national interest.

With all the efforts that have been made by the current government and would be made by future governments he said he believed in the country`s 100th independence anniversary in 2045 Indonesia would become politically mature, stable and secure.

Besides that it would also have economic capability to contribute to regional and international stability, he said.
