Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Navy is to have maximum combat ability by 2014 coinciding with the presence of new weaponry system that has been bought from various countries, Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Marsetio said here on Friday.

"The new weaponry system namely tanks, warplanes, warships and helicopter will arrive in Indonesia gradually. For this year alone, we will have 37 units of BMP-3F tank made in Russia," he said.

Other equipment expected to arrive in Indonesia soon will include three submarines made in South Korea, a Fregat ship made in England, hydrographic ship, anti-submarine helicopter and a fast missile boat.

The chief of staff said such addition of equipment will support the navy forces in conducting its duties of securing Indonesian territory at sea.
