Jakarta (ANTARA News) - North Sulawesi Governor Sinyo Harry Sarundajang has asked the state oil company PT Pertamina and the Police to tighten up the supervision of diesel oil distribution.

"Both the Pertamina and the police should seriously supervise and control the distribution and supply of diesel oil in order to avoid the occurrence of stockpiling," Sarundajang said here on Tuesday.

Speaking before attending the National Development Planning Congress (Musrenbang) 2013), the North Sulawesi governor said there has been an indication of diesel oil stockpiling in his province.

"Consequently, the diesel oil is now rarely found in North Sulawesi, especially by the people in some smaller islands in the province," the governor said.

He added that the fishermen on the smaller islands in North Sulawesi were in need of diesel oil but it was difficult for them to find it.

But he did not elaborate how much diesel oil the fishermen in his province needed per day.

Instead, Sarundajang only said that the amount of diesel oil being sent to North Sulawesi should be doubled from that in the normal condition.

"Pertamina has actually increased the diesel oil quota to North Sulawesi but it remains insufficient, after all. Therefore, Pertamina and the Police should tighten up the supervision of the distribution," the governor noted.
