Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia enjoyed a trade surplus of US$304.9 million in March but cumulatively from January to March it still suffered a deficit.

"Trade in March was in surplus of US$304.9 million but cumulatively from January to March there was still a deficit of US$67.5 million," Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) chief Suryamin said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

He said the country`s exports in the month reached US$15 billion while its imports were recorded at US$14.70 billion.

Oil and gas exports were recorded at US$2.9 billion in March while oil and gas imports reached US$3.7 billion causing a deficit of US$805.2 million.

The non-oil/gas sector however recorded a surplus of US$1.1 billion with exports from the sector reaching US$12.1 billion while imports only US$10.9 billion.

Cumulatively from January to March Indonesia suffered a deficit with its exports reaching US$45.39 billion and imports US$45.46 billion.

Oil and gas exports in the three month period were recorded at US$8.1 billion while imports reached US$11.3 billion leaving a deficit of US$3.1 billion.

Non-oil and gas exports in the period meanwhile reached US$37,2 billion while imports were recorded at US$34.1 billion giving a surplus of US$3.1 billion.
