"It is indeed decreased, because last year in the same month, there was inflation," said the Agency`s Head Suryamin in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Suryamin said that in April 2012, inflation was recorded by 0.21 percent and this month deflation occurs, as commodity prices under control.
He said, based on group expenditure, groceries contributes 0.8 percent deflation followed by clothing that is also recorded 1.13 percent deflation.
"Clothing group experienced deflation because gold prices are still declining," said Suryamin.
Meanwhile, processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco create 0.3 percent inflation, followed by housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel that triggered 0.41 percent inflation.
Then, the health group sector also contribute 0.22 percent inflation, education, recreation and sports added 0.15 percent inflation and transportation, communications and financial services 0.1 percent inflation.
In April, the general inflation recorded 0.1 percent deflation, core inflation 0.14 per cent, 0.14 per cent government regulated prices and volatile price deflation of 0.96 percent.
Thus, the inflation rate from January to April of the 2013 calendar year reached 2.32 percent and annual basis (yoy) 5.57 percent. While the core components inflation is 0.14 percent in April and 4.12 per cent Year on year basis (yoy).
"The 5.57 percent annual inflation figure is not final, there are still eight months to go, it's all depends on the government`s anticipation," said Suryamin.
Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 66 cities, there are 38 cities experienced deflation and inflation accounted for another 28 cities.
Deflation occurred in Maumere at 1.2 percent and 0.95 percent in Palu. While the highest inflation in Padang Sidempuan at 0.81 per cent also in Medan and Sibolga each 0.74 percent.
"Meanwhile, the lowest inflation happened in Kendari 0.01 percent," said Suryamin.
