Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Trade Ministry here on Tuesday announced it would seize several cellular phone products that had entered Indonesia illegally or had not yet obtained an import permit from related authorities.

"As a first start, we have obtained a court order to seize illegal products circulating in Jakarta,"Trade Ministry`s Director General for Standardization and Consumer`s Protection Nus Nuzulia Ishak said.

Among cellular phone products being considered as illegal are Blackberry Q10 and Z10. "Those two products are not supposed to be sold in Indonesia yet. We suspect traders smuggle those products to Jakarta from Malaysia," she added.

Earlier Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan during his impromptu visit to one of the biggest electronic supermarket in Jakarta ITC Roxy Mas found various products which are not supposed to be sold in Indonesia or products with fake guarantee certificates.

"State loss trillions of Rupiah due to this smuggling activity. In the future we will coordinate with related authorities and trace down the distribution network of such products," the minister said.(*)
