Do not use violence to solve social problems."Sentul, West Java (ANTARA News) - The 2013 curriculum will be implemented as scheduled namely in July but it will be done in stages, Deputy Minister of Education and Culture Musliar Kasim has said.
"We have informed all parties including the parliament so they could clearly understand it," said Musliar to the press in Sentul, West Java, on Thursday.
The new curriculum has already been taught in a number of top schools in Jakarta and other regions.
The 2013 curriculum was prepared by the ministry with the participation of more than 500 teachers, lecturers, and education practitioners, so it could become a model that fits the challenges of the 21st century.
"We do not want our students receive out of date curriculum that is not appropriate model of the 21st century," said Musliar.
The curriculum in 2013 has been prepared for students to enable them face the increasingly complex and uncertain challenges.
"The 21st century education should be flexible, innovative and creative and it needs a good curriculum which must be adjusted to the real life and real science with disciplined approach," said Musliar.
Head of the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO Arief Rachman said that the national training materials provided to teachers are consistent with the 2013 Curriculum.
One of the materials presented to the teacher is about honesty that includes mutual respect, mutual understanding, caring, interest and develops the spirit of human rights, social responsibility, solidarity, social situation without discrimination, tolerance and mutual acceptance.
"It can be implemented if we can understand the history and differences among ethnic groups," he said,
In the curriculum, students will also be taught on how to face globalization, political tensions, economic level differences and social conflicts.
"Do not use violence to solve social problems," said Arief.
