Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will hand over the post-2015 recommendations to the United Nation`s (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon at the UN Headquarter in New York on May 31, 2013.
The UN Development Programme`s Country Director of Indonesia Beate Trankmann said in an interview on Friday (May 24) that in next Friday of May 31, President SBY will deliver a complete report of the work as one of the co-chairs of eminent persons for the post-2015 development agenda with President of Liberia Ellen Sirleaf and Prime Minister of UK David Cameron.
"His visiting to New York is to hand over the report of the high level panels to the deliberations and recommendation of all their works to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. That report was represented by all around 20 eminent person members. So, he will be doing that on behalf of the others," she said.
Hence, Trankmann said after they handed over the report, that could be said that the works of the eminent person for the post-2015 was considered complete.
However, to look back on the high-lighted points of the President SBY`s role as one of the eminent person for the post-2015 agenda was its experiences on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in using it to advance the development in Indonesia and to use it as tools for planning, budgeting, implementating, and getting the priority of the national development, she explained.
The other areas that Indonesia can play role globally, Trankmann said was in climate change issues which has to do with sustainable environment goal.
"Indonesia is a big country and has big contribution on gas emission, but it`s also a country who has shown its commitment to address the issue," she said.
"Indonesia is the first country who came out with the binding target basically saying, we (Indonesia) commit to reduce our gas emission by 26 percent by 2020," she added.
Nevertheless, that strong commitment should be supported by policies designed to protect the forests. From this perspective, Trankmann said it was very important for all countries to learn from Indonesia on how to address the issue.
However, the works is not over yet after the high panels of the eminent persons for the post-2015 development agenda handed over their report.
There is still more than two years to go before the deadline of MDGs and it is involved the international community that will be followed up by working group on post-2015 and UN Task Team (UNTT) who will give the MDGs progress and post-MDGs plan in UN General Assembly in September this year, she explained.
