"This is the most complex task in producing the movie. It was not only involved so many human resources but also complicated in elaborating who Hasyim Asy`ari is," the producer, Gope T Samtani, said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Gope T Samtani, national colossal movie producer, said "Sang Kyai" is the most difficult movie of his previous production since he began his movie career in 1971.

"This is the most complex task in producing the movie. It was not only involved so many human resources but also complicated in elaborating who Hasyim Asy`ari is," he said here on Wednesday.

Gope said he shall deployed his 200 employees and 6,000 of supporting actors in creating the heroic story of Kyai Haji (KH) Hasyim Asy`ari. The involved crew numbers were categorized as big in Indonesian movie.

Hasyim Asy`ari was Indonesian religious leader in Netherland colonialism era.

"Sang Kyai" will be released on June 1 at 30 cinemas in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

The production process spent 50 days from November 1, 2012 in four locations in Kediri, Klaten, Magelang, Ambarawa and Semarang.

Gope appreciated on Hasyim Asy`ari as charismatic Moslem leader although his religion�s is Hindu. Before "Sang Kyai" movie release on Cinema, it watched first by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his familiy, VP Boediono and his wife, and several minister.

"The movie was awesome. It showed us about Hasyim Asy`ari`s struggle in colonialism period," president said through his Twitter account.

"Sang Kyai" described about Hasyim, the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama which concern on revivaling the Moslem leader role and his struggle against the colonist Netherland.

Gope T Samtani also produced some movie and television serials such as Jaka Sembung, Noktah Merah Perkawinan and so on.

Rako Prijanto, the director of "Sang Kyai" said Hasyim Asy`ari was the figure who against the colonist by his Islamic spirit.

"Sang Kyai" was directed by Rako Prijanto and starred by Ikranegara (KH Hasyim Asy`ari), Christine Hakim (Nyai Kapu) and Agus Kuncoro Adi (KH Wahid Hasyim).(*)
