Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - More tourists from India are coming to Bali to enjoy Hindu art and cultural activities on the island.

A local tourism observer, Tjokorda Gede Agung, said here on Tuesday that Hindu culture has been one of the factors that has attracted tourists from India, which is a Hindu country, to the island.

"Naturally they wish to know similarities in the Indian Hindu culture in Bali," he said.

According to data from the local tourism service a total of 18,410 tourists from India visited Bali from January to April this year which was an increase of 27.10 percent from the same period last year.

Gede Agung hoped the number would continue to increase following intensive promotion efforts by the Bali provincial government.

He said increasing holy tours from Bali to India has also helped promote Bali as an attractive destination for Indian tourists.

It seems the promotion efforts that have been carried out by the provincial government have come to fruition, he said.

Gede Agung said that the emergence of Indian cultural centers in Bali such as "Yoga" centers with their trainers from India automatically would also promote Bali in India as the trainers would certainly tell about Bali when they returned to their country.
