The figure fell short of the proportional target of Rp75.1 trillion set by the directorate general of customs and excise, the director of customs and excise receipts and regulations at the finance ministry, Susiwijono Moegiarso said in a press statement released on Sunday.
The state revenues consisted of Rp52.6 trillion from excise, Rp14.4 trillion from import duties and Rp6.9 trillion from export duties, he said.
The excise receipts represented a 18 percent increase compared to the same period last year thanks to high tobacco production and excise hike, he said.
"The excise receipts rose due to the expansion of factories, the addition of new machines and production lines, and crackdown on illegal excisable goods and other legal violations," he said.
He said the excise receipts were 96.06 percent contributed by tobacco products, 3.76 percent by alcoholic beverages and 0.15 percent by ethyl alcohol.
State revenues from import duties increased 5 percent from the same period last year thanks to rising import volume and dutiable imports, he said.
"Revenues from dutiable imports in the year to June 28 reached US$73.8 million, up 3.26 percent from US$71.5 million a year earlier," he said.
However, export duties plunged up to 37 percent from the same period last year due to declining prices of export commodities and policies to develop downstream industries, he said.
"The lower-than-expected receipts were merely caused by external factors beyond the directorate general of customs and excise`s control, including low global demand and declining international prices leading to declining exports," he said.
He predicted the export duty target of Rp17.6 trillion set in the revised 2013 state budget will not be achieved due to a downward trend in export duty receipts.
But he expressed optimism import duties will contribute Rp30.8 trillion and excise Rp104.7 trillion to state revenues thanks to an upward trend in import duty and excise receipts.(*)
