Realization of the long awaited Musi III bridge project is no longer far fetch idea."Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Construction of the Musi II bridge in Palembang, the South Sumatra capital, will soon be carried out to reduce traffic jam in the Ampera bridge spanning the Musi river.
"Realization of the long awaited Musi III bridge project is no longer far fetch idea," Yudha Rinaldi, the secretary of the Commission IV of the regional legislative assembly, said.
Yudha said he would visit the public works ministry to ask cancellation of a letter by the ministry , which put the project as part of Sumatra highway .
Inclusion of Musi II bridge project as part of Sumatra highway project would delay its implementation, he said here on Wednesday.
He said the project would be finance by China as the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) was said to have fund in standby loan of US$400 million from China .
"The South Sumatra regional development planning board (Bappeda) office wants the fund to finance the bridge project," he said.
He said he would also visit the office of the coordinating minister for economy to press for the cancellation of the letter sent by the secretary general of the public works ministry.
If the letter was cancelled the Chinese loan could be used to finance the construction of the project, he added.
The Musi II bridge, 1.2 kilometers long and 30 meters wide, is to be built in the area of Pulau Kemaro, in the city of Palembang.
The project will include 23.8 kilometer long and 40 meter wide connecting road.
