Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has expressed appreciation for the achievements of Indonesian students at the Biology Olympic in Switzerland.

"Good news from Switzerland," Yudhoyono said, describing it something to be proud of.

The Indonesian team grabbed a gold and three silver medals in the 24th Biology Olympic held in Bern from July 14 to 21, 2013.

The gold medalist is Rhogerry Deshyka from the Pribadi senior high school of Bandung and those winning the silver medals are Muhammad Farhan Maruli from state run senior high school of SMAN 78 in Jakarta, Kezia Stevanie Tanfriana from the Christian senior high school of BPK Penabur Gading of Serpong and Titis Setiyohadi from the senior high school of GBBS Gemolong of Sragen.

The Indonesian team shared the same rank, the sixth, with those from China, Japan and Taiwan, among 64 countries taking part.

The achievements by an Indonesian team in the 24th Biology Olympic were much better than in the previous events.

The jurors were from leading universities in the world including the University of Dresden of Germany, Wagenigen University of the Netherlands, the University of Aarhuis of Denmark, the University of Tsukuba of Japan and the University of Purdue of the United States.
