Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali was packed with returning holiday travelers following the Idul Fitry festivities on Saturday, official said.

"The returning holiday travelers began to pack the domestic departure terminal of the airport on Saturday, heading for a number of cities in Indonesia," airport spokesman Ketut Dana said here on Saturday.

He noted that although the departure terminal was crowded with returning travelers, the number of passengers arriving at the domestic arrival terminal was also high.

Data from the airport command post indicated that the flow of returning holiday travelers began to increase on Friday, as domestic passengers leaving from the airport reaching 13,732 travelers.

"They were transported by 110 airplanes, including three additional planes," Ketut said, adding that the number of passengers rose by 28 percent, compared to the same period last year, which reached 10,705 people.

He added that returning holiday travelers left Ngurah Rai airport for Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung.
