"Indonesia is deeply concerned about what has been happening in Egypt," Yidhoyono said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said here on Friday the use of military force and weapons to disperse demonstrators in Egypt is against democratic values and humanity.
"I call on the conflicting parties to exercise self restraint," Yudhoyono said when delivering the state-of-the-nation address in observance of the 68th anniversary of Indonesia`s independence at the parliament building here.
The President expressed hope that conflicting parties in Egypt would start national reconciliation process to end the political crisis immediately.
"Indonesia is deeply concerned about what has been happening in Egypt," he said.
He called for an immediate halt to the bloody conflict in Egypt to prevent the loss of more lives.
"I know the situation in Egypt is not easy. But there will always be solution if all conflicting parties are willing to build compromise and seek win-win solution," he said.
The latest conflict in Egypt began after President Mohamed Morsi was ousted by the military under the leadership of Army commander General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
According to the Egyptian Health Ministry, as many as 95 people have been killed in Cairo and other places across the country since clashes between the security personnel and the supporters of president Morsi erupted a few days ago.(*)
