"Whoever the culprit of the shooting (which claimed second brig. Sukardi`s live) and the others which occur recently, we believed that it was all happened because of the non-accountability of firearms` control. Without serious accountability, the wild shooting will continue to repeat," the Justice LBH Public Advocate Coordinator Ahmad Muhibullah said in the official statement received here on Wednesday.
He revealed that the rise of the shooting incidents which targeting police has reduced the public safety sense.
"If the police officer who clearly had firearm in their hand been subjected of the shooting incident, let alone ordinary people," he said.
The Justice LBH hoped the efforts to catch the culprit need to be conducted, but does not stop at the sporadic efforts.
"If only a sporadic efforts I can assure the similar incidents will continue to repeat," he said.
On Tuesday, second brig Sukardi was shot dead by unidentified men in front of the Corruption Eradication Commission building in Rasuna Said street, Jakarta.
"We, Justice LBH condemn the shooting incident and a deep condolence for the death of Second Brigadier Sukardi," Ahmad said.
The Justice LBH recorded that the shooting incident was the fifth throughout the year. The other four incidents happened on June 7 in Kediri, East Java with Sgt. Major Didik Puguh as the victim, on July 27 in Jl. Cirendeu Raya, Ciputat, South Tangerang which claimed the Adj. Second Insp. Fatah Saktiyono`s live, on August 7 in front of the Sari Asih Hospital, Ciputat, which claimed the live of Second Insp. Dwiyanto and the last one happened on August 16 in Pondok Aren, Ciputat with Sgt. Major Kus Hendratma and Second Sgt. Ahmad Maulana as the victims.(*)
