Padang, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Rescuers have found five of the nature loving students or Mapala of Padang`s Andalas University (Unand) dead, according to the regional office of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) here on Sunday.

After finding two dead students on Saturday night, the rescuers on Sunday (Sept 29) found another three dead students who earlier reportedly went missing in the Batang Kuranji river, Batu Busuk village, Koto Tangah subdistrict in West Sumatra.

Six Mapala students of Unand were reported missing on Saturday afternoon after being swept away by the river current at the Batu Busuk village.

The two students who were found dead on Saturday have been identified as Artika Caspela and Elin Florita.

In addition, three fatalities who were found on Sunday identified as Risky Tega, Deni Linardo and Elin Florita, according to head of the BPBD office, Budi Erwanto.

The rescuers were still seeking another missing student, Aidil Akbar Walsya, Budi said, noting that the six students were swept away when they crossed the river in Pauh subdistrict in an effort to conduct a survey.

According to him, the dead students have been rushed to M Djamil general hospital in the city.

Actually, the number of students who crossed the river was eight, but two of them successfully crossed the river, Budi noted.
