By country, buyers making transactions on the second day came from Australia (24.2%), United States (20.25%), Bulgaria (10%), India (9.25%) and Belgium (4.45%).
"Today we saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Nu-Crete, a South African construction compnay, and Indonesia's PT Wijaya Karya for the construction of 2000 single home units in South Africa valued at USD 31 million," explained Gusmardi. The signing was witnessed by Indonesian Deputy Trade Minister Wamendag Bayu Krisnamurthi.
Gusmardi said the housing project in South Africa will involve about 2,000 Indonesian workers. "This MoU is only the initial deal. The value of the transaction and the number of housing units being built will continue to grow after the first phase of construction is completed," he added.
In addition, the Trade Ministry inaugurated a Business Matching facility involving more than 40 countries. On its first day, the matching facility recorded a number of transactions that will be realized in less than a month. However, there were also new transactions that will be realized inside the year, and later.
Transactions that took place in the Business Matching included deals with Indian, Bulgarian, Belgian, German and Yemeni trading partners. "The buyers have entered into transactions with almost 60 TEI exhibitors. The products they are interested in, among others, are leather footwear, food and drink, cosmetics and glassware," Gusmardi said.
During the second day, the Deputy Trade Minister also had the opportunity to conduct courtesy calls to delegates and buyers from several more countries, namely Singapore, East Timor, Bosnia Herzegovina, South Africa and the United States.
In the course of these meetings, Wamendag and the various delegates discussed possibilities in economic cooperation, trade and investment. "Especially export development, building human resource capacity, and agreements to reduce trade barriers between countries," said Gusmardi.
