"There is a possibility that they will have a deep discussion on the boat people issue and the alleged wiretapping committed by Australia," Dewi Fortuna Anwar, the Deputy Secretary for Political Affairs for Vice President Boediono, pointed out prior to the meeting between Boediono and Abbott.
The two also held a closed-door meeting which was tightly guarded.
Dewi, however, said that the meeting was also proof that there was no political tension between the two nations.
"When the Vice President arrived in Canberra, he was greeted by Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop. It means that Australia wants to demonstrate that bilateral relations are still good," she added.
Boediono is on a state visit to Australia from November 10 to 16, which will include visits to Perth, Canberra and Melbourne.
He is accompanied by Education Minister Mohammad Nuh, Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Consultative Assembly Hajriyanto Thohari and Administrative Reform Minister Azwar Abubakar.(*)
