"Investigation is still going on, but we are yet to name a suspect who sold local home-brewed alcohol," Sleman Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ihsan Amin, said on Sunday.
The police, however, suspect that the four persons died after mixing certain ingredients in their alcoholic drink.
"So, indirectly, the cause of their deaths was the victims own fault when they mixed something else with their alcoholic drink. They did not correctly estimate the percentage of ingredients being mixed in the drink. They most likely died dead due to an alcohol overdose," Amin stated.
Suratijo and Sri Mulyanto, both residents of Sleman, died from alcohol poisoning on Nov. 8, while Bambang Yulianto and Suparjo also became victims of consuming home-brewed alcohol on Nov. 7.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and four others had been taken ill after drinking home-brewed alcohol in Solo, Central Java, on Nov.13.
On Nov. 17, one person was found dead and another had to be hospitalized after drinking adulterated alcohol in Tulungagung, East Java.
