"Of the 66 cities surveyed for their consumer price index, 33 recorded inflation and 28, deflation," stated Suryamin, BPS chief.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesias monthly inflation rose by 0.12 percent in November, bringing calendar inflation to 7.79 percent and year-on-year inflation to 8.37 percent, according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
"Of the 66 cities surveyed for their consumer price index, 33 recorded inflation and 28, deflation," stated Suryamin, BPS chief, here on Monday.
He said core inflation, which excludes the prices of volatile foods and government-controlled commodities, was registered at 0.2 percent in November, sending calendar core inflation to 4.51 percent and year-on-year core inflation to 4.81 percent.
Maumere recorded the highest inflation at 1.54 percent, while Sibolga recorded the lowest at 0.03 percent in November. The highest deflation was recorded in Sorong at 1.29 percent, and the lowest was listed in Bengkulu at 0.02 percent, he reported.
According to the BPS, the November inflation was fuelled by a consumer price index hike, with the processed foods-beverages-cigarettes-tobacco group contributing 0.27 percent and the housing-water-electricity-gas-fuel group contributing 0.68 percent.
The health care group contributed 0.34 percent; the education-recreation-sports group, 0.11 percent; and the transportation-communication-financial services group, 0.02 percent to the November inflation rate.
However, the prices of foodstuffs and garments fell by 0.47 percent and 0.03 percent respectively, he confirmed.
He noted that the electricity tariff rose by 0.89 percent, onion prices by 0.06 percent, and citrus prices by 0.02 percent.(*)
