"The arrest was made by the Densus 88 Anti-Terrorist Squad following investigations conducted on other suspects who were caught in possession of a bomb at the Myanmar Embassy," Head of Public Information of the National Police Headquarters Brigadier General Boy Rafli Anwar stated here on Friday.
The suspect, known as Priyo Hutomo (21) alias Iyok, was caught in a joint operation by the police officers from Densus 88 and commandoes of the Violence Crime Unit of Jakarta Metropolitan Police. On Thursday, he was taken into custody from his relatives house in Sejayan Hamlet, Campursari Village, Bulu, Temanggung, Central Java, at around 8 a.m.
Priyos name was put in the wanted list by the police in connection with the foiled bomb plot targeting the Myanmar Embassy, in Jakarta, in May.
The other suspects caught earlier in the case are Sigit Indrajit, Rohadi, Mambo, Achmad Taufik alias Ovhie, Syaiful Sayev, and Imam Syafei.
"We are still investigating the case," he added.
The Central Java Police have given assurance that Priyo, who is in the wanted list, was linked to the planned bombing of the Myanmar Embassy.
"This is the result of a long investigation. Searches had been conducted as suspects were always on the move," Chief of Central Java Regional Police Command Inspector General Dwi Priyatno remarked.
He also stated that other suspects in the bombing plot had already been arrested while the one caught on Thursday was the remaining suspect.
"The others have been arrested. This one was the last remaining suspect. He has now been taken to the National Police Headquarters. We only gave backup to Densus 88," he stated.(*)
