Although printing of ballots and its distribution to district/city levels are being implemented, private party police are still required to ensure their distribution."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) will cooperate with the police and the military (TNI) in distributing elections logistics for the implementation of the election process to run as planned, stated Husni Kamil Manik.

"Law number 9 of 2014 requires KPU to cooperate with the police and TNI. We have signed the agreement and the program of cooperation is now being finalized," explained the KPU chief, at the KPU Building here on Tuesday.

He added that the cooperation includes provision of means of transport in case of a natural disaster or problems hindering distribution of the supplies.

He also stated that the logistics must reach all locations of the elections ahead of the event.

"Although printing of ballots and its distribution to district/city levels are being implemented, private party police are still required to ensure their distribution," he explained.

He stated that the TNI and police assistance was especially needed in the distribution of election logistics to remote islands and regions.

He added that he hoped there will be no social unrest, so that distribution can be carried out smoothly.

KPU has set a target of implementing the seven regulations for the general elections in 2014 this year so that regional KPU branches could be made familiar with the process early in 2014, Husni Kamil Malik had earlier stated.

The seven regulations are related with voting and vote counting, logistics distribution, familiarization programs, nomination of legislative candidates, election campaigning, updating of voter data and schedule as well as stages of presidential election.

Indonesians are scheduled to elect district/city, regional and national legislative candidates in the general elections on April 9, 2014, which will later be followed by the presidential elections.
