Lampung Police Chief Brigadier General Heru Winarko stated here, on Thursday that the police arrested three suspects at a house on Ikan Tembakang Road no.7, Sukaraja Village, Telukbetung Selatan Subdistrict of Bandarlampung at 10 p.m. local time Wednesday, after receiving reports on large-scale drugs traffic from the local residents.
"The drugs were sent by Mr. X, an inmate of a penitentiary in Jakarta," Winarko noted.
The three suspects are Tati, a local resident, Sukri (Tatis husband) and Abu Bakar Lambogo, a resident of Bara-Bara Raya, Makassar Subdistrict, Ujung Pandang, South Sulawesi.
Winarko added that the suspects were rather slick in covering their operations that had started in 2000.
According to the Police Chief, the suspect Mr. X was Tatis brother.
Tati and the other suspects picked up the delivery in Lampung Tengah District and brought the drugs to Bandarlampung before getting arrested.
"The confiscated drugs may have harmed an estimated six million people in Lampung," Winarko stated.
The drugs were wrapped up well in a box-shaped packet and are suspected to be manufactured outside of Indonesia.
The suspects violated Article 114 (2) of Law No. 35/2009 on narcotics.
