Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian National Police disclosed 32,470 narcotics cases in 2013, up by 22.25 percent from last years cases which were recorded at 26,561, stated National Police Chief General Sutarman.

"The drug cases uncovered by the police in 2013 increased by 22.25 percent from that in 2012," stated General Sutarman in press release, here on Friday.

The drug cases in 2013 included 19,362 narcotics cases, up by 9.38 percent from the previous years 17,702 cases.

There were 1,485 psychotropic narcotics cases, down by 7.48 percent from 1,605 cases in 2012.

He noted that the police also disclosed 11,623 cases of hazardous substance, up by 60.23 percent from 7,254 cases in 2012.

That apart, the police also arrested 40,057 narcotics suspects. "Compared to last year when the police nabbed 32,892 suspects, the 2013 figure have shown an increase of 21.78 percent," the police chief pointed out.
