Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - The police were seen conducting an investigation at the house of a terror suspect in Ciputat, Tangerang, in the Banten province, on Wednesday.

The members of the police fingerprint identification team (Inafis) were seen examining the furniture in the house.

"I was here last night to see what was happening, but the police did not allow me to stay as gunshots could be heard in proximity," stated Rohayati, one of the locals who was present at the location.

Meanwhile, another resident of the village, Guntur, noted that he came to know of the on-going raid only after he heard firing in the area.

"I was not far away when it happened. Many police personnel, armed with guns, approached the house. I later heard that there were terrorists housed inside," he remarked.

The police anti-terror squad, Densus 88, had conducted a raid on a house in Kampung Sawah, belonging to Rahmat, which was believed to be used as a hideout.

The terror suspects are allegedly responsible for fatally shooting some police officials in the area some time ago.

They are also believed to be behind several robberies, which had been conducted as part of their efforts to raise funds to finance their infamous activities.

The Head of Public Information of the National Polices Public Relations Division Brigadier General Boy Rafli Amar reported that the raid in Ciputat was conducted following the arrests of terror suspects: Badri in Surakarta, Central Java, and another suspect, known as" A", in Banyumas, Central Java.

Six terror suspects were gunned down during the raid in Ciputat, which started on Tuesday and went on till the wee hours of Wednesday.

Their bodies have been taken for identification to the Sukanto Police Hospital, in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.
