"We call on Indonesian citizens to avoid the locations of mass rallies. For disbursing this information, the embassy is working in tandem with the Indonesian students and community in Bangkok," the ambassador noted here on Friday.
The scheduled locations of the mass rallies include The Government Complex, Ladprao, Victory Monument, Pathumwan, Lumpini Park, Ratchaprasong, and Asoke.
According to Lutfi, on Friday or the fourth day of the so-called "Bangkok Shutdown", which was supported by the Peoples Democratic Reform committee (PDRC), the opposition party of Thailand, the protesters continued to take control of some strategic locations in Bangkok city.
The protesters blockaded some main roads, especially the ones headed towards the business center and government offices. In locations such as the Pathumwan intersection, Victory Monument, and in front of the Thailands National Polices headquarters in Ratchaprasong, the protesters set up a stage and large tents in order to motivate the other protesters.
Despite the ongoing protests conducted by the opposition, Ambassador Lutfi pointed out that the overall situation in Bangkok was relatively under control. Shopping centers and office buildings operated as usual, although they limited the operating hours until 6:00 p.m. local time. (*)
