"They were involved in training terrorists in Poso, Central Sulawesi. They had links with the Santoso-led Poso group," Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters Brigadier General Boy Rafli Amar stated at a press conference here on Tuesday.
He emphasized that this week, the police will conduct further investigations on the group.
"They are allies of one group that has been identified to be involved in terrorism training," he noted.
He added that many of the group members fled after the operation was carried out in Poso.
"Some of them fled to East Java, including the two caught yesterday," he claimed.
The police anti-terror squad, Densus 88, conducted a raid on a rented house on Jalan Tanah Merah, in Kenjeran, Surabaya, at 7 p.m. on Monday and arrested Isnaini Ramdone alias Doni (30) hailing from Probolinggo, East Java, and Abdul Majid (35) from Kenjeran, Surabaya.
East Java Police Chief Inspector General Unggung Cahyono remarked that the raid was carried out after conducting close surveillance of the area since Sunday night.
"Finally, at 7 p.m. on Monday, the two were seen near a gas station in Kedungcowek, Surabaya. They were pursued and later arrested without any resistance," he stated.
The police confiscated two bombs from their house, which is located one kilometer from the Suramadu Bridge that links Surabaya and Madura Island.
Besides the two bombs, the police also confiscated books and black flags.(*)
