"The replacement (of the Brimob Corps Chief) is a natural regeneration process intended to replace those personnel who enter retirement with new staff, which is in accordance with the future wish of the nation," Sutarman reported at a function marking the transfer of post of Brimob Corps Chief from Murkal to Kaligis, organized here at the National Police Headquarters.
Insp. Gen. M. Rum Murkal has been promoted to the post of Expert Staff for Social and Economic Affairs of the National Police.
The police chief also inaugurated Insp. Gen. Rudiard Manalasak Linggom Tampubolon as Coordinator of Expert Staffs of the Chief of the National Police.
Tampubolon was formerly a member of the police chiefs expert staff for social and economic affairs. Tampubolon replaced Insp. Gen. Herry Haryanto who retired.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Jimmy Palmer Sinaga, who was formerly director of graduate program at the Police College, was inducted as North Sulawesi Police Chief.
After the reshuffle, Sutarman expressed hope that the newly inaugurated police officials will be able to address a variety of challenges that lie ahead.
"Through these changes, the newly inaugurated officials are expected to be capable of facing increasingly dynamic and complex security issues," he noted.
He appealed to the newly appointed police officials to perform their duties to the best of their abilities and nurture their subordinates, particularly when they encounter increasingly formidable tasks and challenges.
He also ordered the police personnel across the country to focus on trans-boundary crimes, such as terrorism, narcotic abuse, and cybercrime.
"The terror cells in the regions pose a special challenge. Therefore, we must prevent them and uphold the law against terrorism as many police personnel were killed in the line of duty (while combating terrorism)," he pointed out.(*)
