"Based on reports from the Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency as well as the National Disaster Mitigation Agency only small or medium rain would fall and so we need not extend the status," he said at the City Hall here on Monday.
Due to the decision he said the city administration would now use a regular budget and not an emergency budget to deal with the situation.
"We will see. If the rain is heavy again we will revive the emergency status again but for now I think we need not extend it," he said.
The Jakarta administration had imposed an emergency status on January 17 until January 27.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency had earlier demanded the extension of the emergency status.
BNPB spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the tendency of rain in the city has declined and it will be sporadic but the pattern of rain in 2013 was different from the one in 2014.
"In 2013 the high intensity rain only happened once and then dropped but this year the intensity was low but the duration was longer," he added.
The floods in Jakarta, during the current peak rainy season, which started early in January 2014, have claimed 23 lives, displaced tens of thousands and caused losses amounting to around one trillion rupiah.
