"The artifacts describe the culture of Indonesia, the plural community that respects and honors the culture. Through Vatican, we want to introduce the uniqueness of Indonesia," Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economics Sapta Nirwandar was quoted to have stated, by Kompas on Monday.
Sapta stated that the artifacts were brought back by the missionaries when they returned from their duties in Indonesia several years ago.
Sapta attended the weekly public meeting of Pope Francis in St Peter Basilica, Vatican on Wednesday, Feb 12. He was accompanied by Ambassador of Indonesia to Vatican Budiarman Bahar.
With regard to the exhibition of Indonesian artifacts, Pope Francis noted that he totally supported the event.
