SUZHOU, China, Feb. 18, 2014 (ANTARA/PRNewswire) -- Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) recently signed two memoranda of understanding (MOU) with Hanyang University in South Korea on Wednesday 12th February.

At the event in Seoul, a delegation from XJTLU led by Dr. Jessica Sewell, Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Design, met with counterparts from the Department of Urban Planning and Engineering and the Graduate School of Urban Studies at Hanyang University.

The collaboration will pave the way for greater opportunities for inter-departmental and university-wide student exchange in addition to joint research projects, and highlights both institutions' commitment to international cooperation in education and research.

Dr. Sugie Lee, from the Department of Urban Planning and Engineering at Hanyang, gave Dr. Sewell a tour of the labs and classrooms and they discussed the details of each program in more depth. The guests were also shown around Hanyang University's Graduate School of Urban Studies and met the School's dean, Professor, Dr. Joo-Hyung Lee where the first MOU was jointly signed.

Over lunch, the delegation from XJTLU were shown a video charting the history and development of Hanyang University and were given a presentation by Professor, Dr. Kyushik Oh, Chair, Urban Planning and Engineering. Dr. Sewell and Professor Oh then signed the second MOU, concluding the day's formal proceedings.

Speaking of the recent visit Dr. Sewell said that "We are very much looking forward to collaborating with Hanyang University in both research and teaching. Our relationship with Hanyang will enrich our students' opportunities for international experience as well as supporting our mutual research goals."
