Positive condition still continues that BEI index gained to follow the regional trend."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta composite index closed 1.24 percent higher to follow the regional trend on Wednesday.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 1.24 percent or 57.89 points to 4,659.17 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks up 1.35 percent to 783.09 points.

"Positive condition still continues that BEI index gained to follow the regional trend," chief researcher of Trust Securities Reza Priyambada said.

Reza said conducive external condition prompted market players to buy shares the price of which fell earlier as a result of the Ukraine crisis.

"Foreign investors recorded a net buy of Rp816 billion on Wednesday," he said.

Sinarmas Sekuritas analyst Christandi Rheza Mihardja predicted the BEI index would move at the range of 4,657-4,716 points on Thursday.

"Index movements would be determined partly by data about the growth of European Gross Domestic Products, which is expected to increase," he said.

There were 234,122 transactions recorded at BEI with 5.47 billion shares worth Rp6.39 trillion changing hands on Wednesday.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng recorded a 0.34 percent fall in index to 22,579.78 points with Nikkei index up 1.20 percent to 14,897.63 and that of Straits Times up 0.38 percent to 3,116.64 points.
