Many cabinet ministers have also applied for a permit from the President..."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi said many regional leaders have already applied for leave to conduct campaigns in connection with the legislative elections scheduled on April 9.

"Yesterday I approved, if I am not mistaken, the request of the West Kalimantan governor. Some others have also applied before, including Pak (Mr) Jokowi. But he (Joko Widodo) only informed me as he will only conduct consolidation activities on a Saturday and a Sunday (days off)," he told newsmen at the Presidential Palace compound here on Friday, after attending a limited cabinet meeting.

Gamawan said according to the government regulation they can take two working days in a week for campaign work.

"According to the Government Regulation Number 18, 2013, they can take part in campaigns for two working days in a week. For that, they must apply for a permit 12 days before their campaign schedules and they cannot use public facilities in their activities," he said.

He stated that if they campaign on a Sunday they can just give a notification but on working days they must get a permit, and so far "I have received many applications from governors, district heads and mayors."

"Many cabinet ministers have also applied for a permit from the President to conduct a campaign through Pak (mr) Sudi (cabinet secretary). You can check who they are," he said.
