"Winardi was confirmed as the new president director of PT Inalum in a shareholders meeting several days ago. The post transfer will be done on Friday or Saturday," Dahlan clarified after a leadership meeting at PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia here on Thursday.
Dahlan noted that Winardi was not a new comer at a state-owned company as he used to be Operations Director of PT Aneka Tambang (Antam).
He explained that Winardi was a great person as shown by his success in bringing PT Aneka Tambang to be among top state-owned companies.
"He is a graduate of the Bandung Institute of Technology and one of the strong candidates for Antam president director in 2013. Winardi however was beaten by Tato Miraza," Dahlan pointed out.
He remarked that he was once confused when he had to choose between Winardi and Tato as Antam President Director.
"Both are good. Therefore Winardi has been put in Inalum," he explained.
Dahlan hoped Winardi could bring Inalums performance to double what was done before.
He admitted that he had given Winardi a tough job of making Inalum a top company in Asia by focusing on investment in alumina grade plant, expansion of by-products and development of the power plant.
"With the three focuses in the next three years, Inalum will be able to multiply its financial performance. What is certain is that we now no longer import aluminum raw materials as they are already produced at home," he explained.(*)
