"Kuta, Bali (ANTARA News) - Bali's emergency Quick Response Team raised their awareness by deploying 25 personnel to manage the tsunami threat in Kuta Beach following the 8.2 Richter scale earthquake in Chile on Wednesday, April 2.
"We will continue to monitor throughout the beach in Bali to suppress fatalities from the disaster," assured Bali Province response team officer Rudi Tjandi who is currently monitoring the tsunami in Kuta, Thursday.
Rudi explained that the team will continue to monitor the shores following the notification information issued by the National Disaster Management Agency, BNPB, on Wednesday, April 2, until it is revoked.
However, current tourism activities in Bali's Kuta Beach are not disrupted by the tsunami threat issue. Hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists have been spotted holidaying as usual.
Meanwhile, the response team and Badung Regional Disaster Management Board, BPBD continue to monitor Kuta Beach coastline and the surrounding areas.
Previously, the 8.2 Richter scale magnitude earthquake that occurred on the northern coast of Chile or 240 northwest of Bombay, India, on Wednesday, April 2, was expected to have an impact on Indonesia.
Bali is regarded as one of the tsunami-affected regions of alert status with 0.5 meters of potential wave raise that will cover areas of Denpasar City Beach - Sanur, Southern District of Karangasem, Klungkung, and Nusa Penida.
Furthermore the increase of the sea level from the tsunami for districts of Gianyar, Jembrana, Tabanan, and Badung that are located on the coastline of Kuta Beach is estimated to occur on Thursday at 9:28 pm until 10:14 pm.
