Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Attorney Generals Office questioned president director of PT Mobilindo, Budi Susanto, about the alleged mark up in the price of buses purchased for the TransJakarta mass rapid transit system.

Budi was questioned as a witness. The vehicles were purchased by the Jakarta transportation office.

"Budi Susanto was questioned as a witness by the investigator about purchase of buses," the spokesman of the Attorney Generals Office, Setia Untung Arimuladi, said here on Thursday.

Investigators also questioned Chen Chong Kyeon, director of Pt Korindo Motors, and Supandi Gozali, director of Pt Putriasi Utama Sari.

According to the spokesman, the witnesses were asked about the chronology of their companies participation in the 15 packets of procurement of the buses.

The procurement of the TransJakarta buses involved an amount worth Rp 1 trillion while refurbishing of regular transport buses involved an expenditure of Rp500 billion.

Attorney General's Office has named two suspects in the alleged mark up in the purchase of buses for TransJakarta in the Jakarta provincial transportation office in 2013.

The two suspects are DA (Civil Servant at the Jakarta Transportation office acting as commitment affairs officer) and ST (Civil Servant at the Jakarta Transportation office acting as committee chairman for goods procurement).

Meanwhile on March 14, the Attorney Generals Office questioned 10 witnesses in the same case.

"As part of the investigations in the case, we have questioned 10 people," Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, R Widyo Pramono, stated here on Friday.

He pointed out that the Attorney Generals Office will question other witnesses to check if the case involves any criminal offense.

"If that (turns out to be) the case, we will follow it up," he explained.

"I have ordered the public prosecutors to work to the best of their ability so that the problem can be solved," he elaborated.

In addition, Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) explained earlier that he had detected clues about irregularities in the procurement of the buses.

"I have received a report from the inspectorate (of the Jakarta administration) that there have been irregularities in the procurement of Transjakarta and BKTB (integrated city busway) buses. The irregularities were found in the auction process," he added. (*)
