London (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and the Netherlands are strengthening cooperation in the field of agriculture through the VegIMPACT program, an important cooperation sector in the Indonesia-Netherlands bilateral ties.

"Cooperation in this sector is one of the fields that become top priorities in the two countries bilateral relations as discussed by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the Dutch Prime Minister in Jakarta last November," First Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague Danang Waskito told ANTARA News here on Sunday.

He said that one of the cooperation in the agricultural sector is cooperation in the vegetable sector through the VegIMPACT program.

To carry out cooperation in the agricultural sector, including the implementation of the VegIMPACT program, Indonesian Ambassador to The Netherlands Retno L.P. Marsudi held a meeting with the Wageningen Research University (WUR) on Friday, April 4, 2014.

The VegIMPACT program aims to increase vegetable productivity without the use of too much pesticide. This approach is expected to reduce vegetable production cost, agricultural occupational health risks and to provide continuous training for farmers.

According to the embassy, the VegIMPACT program has been running since January 2013.
