"The price of the commodity has been rising since early this year," head of the trade division of the regional trade and industrial office Hanny Wajong said here on Thursday.
Hanny said the price hike encouraged the farmers.
Head of the market and distribution section of the trade and industrial office Olga Mokoginta said shortage in stock and supplies had driven up the price.
Gustav Karinda, a trader in Manado, said the price is rising but the farmers could not gain much from the condition as they have no stock to sell.
Deky W, a farmer from Minahasa said he hoped the price would continue to be good until the next harvest time.
