He made the statement when receiving the chairman of Chinas Institute of Innovation and Development Strategy (CIIDS), Zheng Bijian, at his office here on Monday afternoon.
"We hope the partnership and cooperation between Indonesia and China will become a part of the solution for peace and welfare in the region," he said.
Apart from President Yudhoyono, the meeting was also attended by chief minister for security, political and legal affairs Djoko Suyanto, cabinet secretary Dipo Alam and presidential special aide for international relations Teuku Faizsyah and presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha.
Zheng Bijian, meanwhile, was accompanied by CIIDS executive deputy head Wu Jianmin, CIIDS senior partner Huang Renwei and CIIDS deputy executive secretary general Feng Wei.
President Yudhoyono said the bilateral relations between the two countries were strong and continued to grow.
He hoped the good relations could be used as a base by the two countries to improve their strategic partnership.
According to Teuku Faizasyah, Zheng Bijian, who is also the presidential adviser since 2001, came to pay a courtesy visit and to ask for President Yudhoyonos views on completing the CIIDS study, carried out in cooperation with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), for the implementation of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
"In short (he wished) to know the Presidents views on the issue," he said.(*)
