"Certainly he (Jokowi) will only be non-active after he is declared as a legitimate candidate," Gamawan Fauzi stated.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will be non-active after the General Election Commission (KPU) confirms his participation in the presidential election, Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi noted here on Wednesday.
Based on KPU Regulation Number 4 of 2014, the names of presidential and vice presidential candidates are scheduled to be confirmed on May 31.
"Certainly he (Jokowi) will only be non-active after he is declared as a legitimate candidate," Gamawan Fauzi stated after receiving Jokowi and Deputy Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama at his office.
Head of information service of the Ministry of Home Affairs Didik Suprayitno meanwhile remarked that a presidential decree on Jokowis temporary dismissal will be issued on May 31.
"The presidential decree will be effective until the KPU declares the names of the new president and vice president," he added.
Jokowi and Basuki met the minister of home affairs for consultation regarding the transfer of authority from the governor to the deputy governor as acting governor once Jokowi is non-active.
After the meeting Jokowi said that the minister explained about the rights and obligations that he had to release once he became non-active.
"(I have to) release the official residence and its equipment and the official car to the government immediately after I am declared temporarily dismissed," he added.
He remarked that he could also no longer use the household budget, including the budgets for maintenance of inventories, home and car, and health checkups.
"(But) I will still receive principal salary and allowances," he stated.
The Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP) along with its coalition partners has named Jokowi as the candidate for the presidential election scheduled on July 9.
The KPU is scheduled to open registrations for presidential and vice presidential candidates on May 18-20. (*)
