"We refuse to coalesce with many political parties because some of the parties want six, eight, and even eleven of their cadres to be made ministers," Jokowi said.Bandung, West Java (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) did not coalesce with many political parties because many of them have asked for ministerial positions as compensation, stated presidential candidate Joko Widodo, popularly known as "Jokowi".
"We refuse to coalesce with many political parties because some of the parties want six, eight, and even eleven of their cadres to be made ministers," Jokowi remarked during his political oration in Bandung.
He noted that it was not necessary to involve many political parties in his nomination as presidential candidate with Jusuf Kalla as his running mate in the upcoming July presidential election.
Jokowi reiterated that his intention to become president is to only focus on the peoples interests in various fields and to develop the nation rather than power sharing.
"We would like to work for the sake of the people and not for political transaction and power sharing. Therefore, we have coalesced with parties that want to coalesce with us unconditionally," he emphasized.(*)
