Bureaucratic reforms must be carried out properly to fix public services.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Fixing public services by reforming the bureaucracy is part of an endeavor to make the government program run effectively, noted vice presidential candidate Hatta Rajasa.

"Bureaucratic reforms must be carried out properly to fix public services," Rajasa stated while accompanying presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto during the presidential election debate at Balai Sarbini on Monday evening.

He explained that inefficient bureaucracy, which was not oriented to public services, was an obstacle to the implementation of the governments program.

Rajasa noted that inefficient bureaucracy can crop up in an institution, which has no insight in public services, whose recruitment process was not up to the mark, and the promotion system was not transparent and accountable.

"Besides this, the absence of a correct mechanism to measure achievements in an institution can make the public services long-winded, costly, protracted, and exhausting," he stated.

Therefore, Rajasa emphasized that bureaucratic reforms should be implemented by improving and making an institution or organization more efficient and accountable based on performance.

He added that the role of law enforcers such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the National Police (Polri), and the attorney should be strengthened as part of bureaucratic reforms.
