The photos and notes will never be revealed to the public ..."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia National Police has reiterated its commitment to guard the presidential elections vote counting process until the General Elections Commission (KPU) announces the official result on July 22.
"The police personnel on the field will watch over the vote counting process and recapitulation of votes conducted in every ballot station. Some officers have even taken notes or photos of the official vote counting process in the ballot stations they have been guarding," spokesman of the National Police Inspector General Ronny F Sompie said here on Thursday.
Ronny said the photos taken by the police officers will be provided as evidence in case the election result is contested by the people. However, the spokesman clarified that the photos taken did not mean that the police was holding its own version of quick count.
"The photos and notes will never be revealed to the public, but will only be used in case problems arise in the vote counting process to justify the situation," said Ronny.
Indonesian presidential election was held last Wednesday (July 9).
The election was contested by the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair and the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo.
According to the KPU, a total of 190,307,134 voters have been registered (including 2,038,711 overseas voters), with 486,866 polling stations across the archipelago.
