Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogated the five siblings of former religious affairs minister Suryadharma Ali (SDA) for his alleged role in the graft-ridden management of Hajj funds in 2012-2013.

The five siblings: Elyati Ali Said, Anwar Musyadad Ropiudin, Mimik Ismiasih B. Sawojo, Dewi Sri Masitho, and Neneng Lasmita Susanti, were summoned as witnesses for the suspect, SDA, Priharsa Nugraha, a spokesman of the KPK stated here on Tuesday.

Saefudin Safii, the former secretary of the then minister, was also grilled by the KPK on the same day.

The anti-graft body suspected irregularities in the implementation of the Hajj funds including those used for providing accommodation and transportation for the Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

The minister allegedly took along his family members, several officials of the ministry, and legislators to the Hajj pilgrimage, at the expense of the public who had been waiting for their turn to go for the Hajj pilgrimage.

Previously, the KPK had summoned Alis wife, Wardhatul Asriah, his daughter-in-law, Rendhika Deniardy Harsono, and lawmaker, Reni Marlinawati, in connection with the same case.
