"We have studied religion and faith when we were small children. We are against ISIS in Indonesia," chairman of the presidium of the Central Executive Board of the organization of Faiths in One and Only God, Suprih Suhartono, said here on Monday.
Suprih asked the government to crack down on ISIS before it grows and become stronger in Indonesia.
Buddhist and Christian leaders also strongly call for the rejection of the presence of ISIS in the country.
"I reject ISIS as whatever the reason is, God never gave an order to murder other people. On the contrary God wants people to love each other," Christian clergyman Palty Panjaitan said.
Jamaah Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI) leader Maulana Zafrullah Pontoh said the Koran never approves force and violence.
Maulana said the Indonesian citizens should unite to support the government in rejecting force and violence.
Chairman of the Council of Syura IJABI-Syiah Jalaluddin Rakhmat said there are already a number of people in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Solo and Tangerang joining ISIS.
The religion and faith leaders issued a joint statement rejecting ISIS presence in Indonesia and signed a banner expressing their rejection of the organization.
ISIS is seeking to establish Islamic states in Middle East under Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
ISIS is known as a hardliner and radical movement resorting to mass murder and suicide bombing in implementing its mission
The National Body for Terrorist Control calls ISIS as terrorist organization.(*)
