"Of the 16 immigrants, 14 were flown from Ambon to their country of origin via Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday," said the immigration office spokesman Nanang Koesdarjanto.
He noted that they will not spend the night in Jakarta but board a connecting flight to Kuala Lumpur and on to Myanmar, as has been facilitated by the IOM.
The immigrants had been detained at the immigration detention center for a month before being repatriated.
"They were fishermen working on some fishing boats but had lost their jobs and had been roaming the streets of Ambon before being detained," Nanang said.
He added that the immigration officials had detained them because they did not possess valid documents.
