Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Association of Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI) Presidium Nanat Fatah Natsir has opined that the meeting between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and president-elect Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, had been constructive.

President Yudhoyono and Jokowi met in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Wednesday evening to discuss numerous issues related to leadership transition.

"Such a meeting, which has not happened before, should continue in the future so that Indonesia can become a model for other countries," Nanat said here on Thursday.

The former rector of Bandung State Islamic University expressed hope that the inauguration of Jokowi as president in October 2014 could also be attended by all former presidents to confirm Indonesia as a democratic country.

He noted that Indonesia has gained International admiration for running a smooth, peaceful, and democratic presidential election. The transfer of government is also expected to occur peacefully.

Yudhoyono and Jokowi during the meeting had agreed to continue consultation of leadership transition.

"Alhamdulillah Jokowi and I have the same thing in mind. We have agreed to continue discussion and to create a new tradition in order to make the transition as smooth as possible," President Yudhoyono said at a joint press conference with Jokowi in Nusa Dua.

"We have agreed that what we talked about this evening will be discussed further more technically by Jokowis transitional team and the ranks of the current administration," the president stated.

He added that during the tete-e-tete, they had discussed productive matters related to the agenda of state and government, government program and policy, including the Draft 2014 State Budget (RAPBN-2015) and the Revised 2014 State Budget.
